Green Stone Coffee founder and instructor Hui-Ling Wang was recently invited by Taiwan’s Youth Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, to deliver a seminar titled “Finding Your Café Path: Career Choices & Coffee Entrepreneurship.”
The seminar brought together young participants to explore career choices, coffee entrepreneurship, and the journey from personal interest to professional practice.
Drawing on her years of experience in hospitality management, specialty coffee education, and entrepreneurship, Hui-Ling shared not only current developments in the specialty coffee industry, but also her own experiences of making career decisions, overcoming challenges, and gradually building professional capabilities through long-term learning and action.
During the seminar, Hui-Ling shared one of the ideas that has shaped her own professional journey:
“We do not always see the direction clearly from the beginning. Often, it is through continuous action and the choices we make that our path gradually becomes clear.”
The discussion encouraged participants to think beyond the question of simply choosing a job.
Instead, they were invited to consider how interests, skills, professional development, personal values, and entrepreneurship can gradually come together to form a career path that is meaningful and sustainable.
Participants also exchanged ideas and asked questions about starting a coffee business, developing professional skills, future career opportunities, and making important life and career choices.
In the afternoon, participants visited Green Stone Coffee Academy in Taipei for an on-site learning experience.
The visit gave them an opportunity to see how a professional specialty coffee learning environment operates and to gain a closer understanding of coffee education, professional training, and the real-world operations of micro independent cafés.
By connecting the morning seminar with an actual coffee education and business environment, participants were able to see more clearly how an interest in coffee can develop into professional skills—and potentially into a future career or entrepreneurial journey.
Green Stone Coffee Academy has long been committed to specialty coffee education, entrepreneurship training, and international exchange.
By integrating education, academic research, and industry practice, we hope to help more young people bridge the gap between their aspirations and real-world challenges.
Coffee may begin as an interest, but through continuous learning, practice, and exploration, it can also become a professional skill, a career, a business—or a path of one’s own.
